O’Fallon Chamber honors outstanding businesses, business leaders

From St. Charles County Suburban Journal

The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce will recognize outstanding businesses and leaders on Dec. 17 at its awards luncheon at the Christy Banquet Center.

Cindy Elking, owner of Quintessential Catering, will be honored as the Sue Proost O’Fallon Chamber Person of the Year for giving back through her leadership, dedication and volunteerism. Elking serves on the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Board. She is a board member for the St. Charles Community College Foundation. Elking volunteers her time and talent for many local organizations including Habitat for Humanity and Vision St. Charles County Leadership.

“Cindy actively participates in board meetings and her leadership, poise and intelligence has proven to be an invaluable resource when the board does its annual planning. She is a stellar board member who not only gives of her time and talents, but invests personally into the mission of SCC,” said Kasey McKee, associate vice president of foundation and alumni relations at St. Charles Community College Foundation.

Community News will be honored as the 2013 Small Business of the Year, while Krey Distributing will be honored as the Business of the Year. Krey was nominated for its long-term support of the chamber and the community including its financial support of BackStoppers and its Waves of Honor program.

The chamber will recognize Firestone as the 2013 Large Business of the Year. Firestone is involved with many local non-profit organizations, offering free and discounted products and service to benefit the organizations.

The chamber will recognize the St. Charles City-County Library District as its Community Servant of the Year. The library district provides resources for all areas of our community serving nonprofits in its Non-Profit Center, businesses in its Business Management Center, and residents.

Being honored as the Ambassador of the Year is Greg Kinder. The Ambassadors strengthen the membership and programming of the chamber.

Our picnic went off without a hitch. Feeding 700 guests for 4 hours is no easy feat, but you pulled it off flawlessly - again! Thanks for everything!

Everyone had a great time and loved the food. We continue to be asked who provide the food, so hopefully you will receive referrals. The CAKE was the most memorable - the chocolate cake was so moist and delicious. Guests thought it was clever to serve fruit on each plate along with their choice of white or chocolate! And the punch recipe turned out fabulous too - thank you!
  • Jack Mortenson - Sales/Client Relations - Nephropath

We want to thank you so much for the beautiful job you did for Joe's Purple Heart Ceremony!  The room looked stunning with the purple and white theme, along with the china and crystal.  The food was delicious! And the two servers were terrific! The relief I felt after talking with you only 3 days before the event was enormous!! Also, your generosity is something we will never forget!! Thank You a million!!!
  • Becky Sandring - "The Food Mom"

The meal you provided for the Blue Springs South High School Jaguar Pride Marching Band in St. Charles served us well.  EVERYTHING DISAPPEARED like magic as the kids went down the food line and filled their plates.  We had the right amount of food.  Those who wanted seconds were able to do so, yet we did not have any leftovers! Thank you for great food, prompt delivery and the perfect amount of food.  We appreciate your work to deliver a hot meal to the Blue Springs South High School marching band.
